Building on our Success

Quicksilver Homes was formerly known as Fulford Builders and was established as a construction company in the 1970s. Over the years the company has undertaken a variety of speculative commercial & domestic schemes on varying scales.

We are a developer & a building company with a projected turnover this year of 4 million & an employed staff of twenty who are mainly site based. Our management team are all from a construction background & the Company recognises that our people are our greatest asset. Our employee focus, low staff turn over & team work was recognised in September 2003 when we achieved the Investor In People Standard. Training & development is also a priority across the board, highlighted by the fact that we are currently training an apprentice groundworker & two bricklaying adult upskillers.

The Company's focus is now primarily on house building. By working closely with our architectural team, using our own in depth construction knowledge & increasingly gathering feedback from our customers we have successfully developed a number of small scale housing schemes. These have varied in size from single detached dwellings through to a development of twenty eight apartments.

We never use a standard type formula, preferring to design each scheme to suit the site & its environment.

Undertaking conversion, refurbishment & new build work we always embrace a challenge. We consider ourselves to be technically innovative & have incorporated timber frame, steel frame & advanced flat roof systems into our domestic designs.

Although our focus has always been on good design until recently this has manifested itself as traditional vernacular architecture. In recent years, however, emphasis has increasingly been on more modern design solutions. Here open plan living, the maximisation of natural light & the use of a palette of more modern materials such as cedar cladding & steel roof coverings is pivotal. Energy efficiency is also never forgotten & all our properties have a SAP rating of 80 or over. Over the past six years we have been pleased to accept good design & construction awards from Hambleton District Council, Ryedale District Council & the Ripon Civil Trust. Last year we were also awarded a prestigious RIBA White Rose Award for Sycamore House that we built in Malton.
