Modern Ripon
The small Cathedral city of Ripon is filled with great shops, contemporary cafés, good restaurants and real British pubs and prides itself on keeping its original beauty making Ripon such a popular place.

Every Thursday, there is a market in the market square, a tradition that has been carried out for years.  Today's popular market offers fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, fresh fish, clothes, jewellery, and much more.  Other markets are also held here several times a year, including farmers markets, craft fairs and also a French market, where traders come over from France to sell their local cheeses, wines, jams, textiles and more.

Ripon has it's own Race Course, and from April to the end of August, has hosted some of the most enjoyable horse racing in the country.

There are some good schools in the area, for example Moorside Junior School and Ripon Grammar School and Ripon College, all within the catchment area  of Cedar Grange.

Historic Ripon
The historic city of Ripon dates from around the 7th Century and has evolved into a place full of beauty and charm.  Ripon has many historic buildings, a magnificent Cathedral and some traditional customs, the most well known of which is ‘the settling of the watch’ which is a thousand year old ceremony that takes place each and every  night at 9.00pm with the blowing of a horn.

Once a year, Ripon holds St Wilfrid’s Day, a procession to commemorate the 7th Century founder of Ripon Cathedral, Saint Wilfrid. Each year, a procession
